Psalm 9:2 (NKJV)
I will be glad and rejoice in You; I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High
Don’t you love to praise the Lord?! This past Sunday I heard a wonderful message that served as a much needed reminder of the importance of praise and worship. A great deal was shared, but one thing that stood out to me was this:
Praise is our response to God’s character. Worship is your conduct in response to God’s presence.
As a praise and worship leader at my church I would often struggle with thoughts of stage fright, or fear of judgment, if I didn’t hit the right note or sing in the perfect key. I realized that for too long my focus was on pleasing man, rather than praising the God of My Salvation and the Savior of My Soul!! Today when I praise, my desire is to go forth in excellence in order to honor God first and foremost. I also hope to be a part of leading the people into their time of worship, and when I begin to feel unsure of myself I re-direct my focus to making a joyful noise unto the Lord! He always deserves our very best, and my prayer is that we’ll all sing to Him today!!
Psalm 100 (KJV)
Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands.2 Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing.3 Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.5 For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.
Have you praised our Mighty Father today?
