This weekend I was attempting to make an on-line purchase, and before my transaction was complete I ran into a problem. I called customer service, believing the issue would be an easy fix, but boy was I wrong! It was obvious that the gentleman I was speaking with didn’t understand my problem, nor did he have the solution. He gave me an answer and honestly I didn’t trust anything he was telling me. I doubted his words, so I hung up, and called the number again. I needed confirmation that the information he gave me was correct, and just as I’d suspected, the second individual told me something entirely different. She was much more knowledgeable, and not only did she resolve the issue, but she ended up giving me the product for free!
This isn’t the first time I’ve called a company and questioned the service I was receiving. I either spoke to someone with an attitude, or an individual who was ill-informed, or there was a certain shady quality that caused me to want to verify the “facts” I was given. Under these circumstances I believe I have every right to do some double-checking, but why is it that we sometimes look at God with this same suspecting eye?
James 1:6-8(NKJV) But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
It is natural to be weary of many things of this world, and it’s also natural to have moments of uncertainty when it comes to Christ. However, by no means, should this become a way of life or part of our daily thought process! Unlike businesses who may or may not operate with integrity, God and His Word are tried and true! He remains the same and we have every reason to believe in His Truth today and ALWAYS!!
Mark 4:40 (NKJV) But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?”
Hebrews 11:6 (NKJV) But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
Hebrews 13:8 (NKJV) Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
IS YOUR DOUBT GREATER THAN YOUR FAITH?
