Getaway House: The Relaxing Vacation We All Need

Life is busy and honestly, I’ve been exhausted lately. Always having to be “on”, feeling overwhelmed trying to juggle family and work life, and constantly wondering why there never seems to be enough hours in the day.

Rather than continue in this draining cycle, my husband and I decided to escape the noise and take a break from our hectic schedules.

I had the incredible opportunity to work with Getaway House for a hosted stay, and the two of us recently left the busyness (and our kiddos) behind for a refreshing weekend in the great outdoors of North Georgia!

Getaway Houses are located outside of major cities across the country. These tiny cabins are tucked away in nature and are designed to encourage you to unplug and unwind.  They take this seriously by including a cellphone lockbox, reading material and the bare necessities (bathroom, shower, kitchenette and mini-fridge) inside.

We packed what we needed but they also have a list of provisions you can purchase from and a local guide to help you plan for some adventure if you want!

We are so used to being connected to any and everything with our phones, it was a bit of an adjustment to fully disconnect. We had no reception (there’s a phone in each cabin in case of emergencies), but it didn’t take long to get used to it!!

It was easy to do so with our comfy queen-size bed, and the most picturesque view out our window. I felt my shoulders and the rest of my body relax as we settled in, knowing we had no obligations to the outside world. We were there to rest and reconnect, and that’s exactly what we did!

We listened to the radio (yes, an actual radio with a dial, lol), completed a puzzle, worked on crossword puzzles, did some reading, hiking, and of course, made s’mores!

In spite of rain leading up to the trip, the weather was incredible and we truly enjoyed every minute of the crisp fall air. Time seemed to slow down as we leaned into the beauty of simply being present in the moment, and although we were only a few hours from home but it was like we were in a different world.

It was incredible!

Saying goodbye to such a magical weekend was certainly bittersweet. However, we left with  rejuvenated spirits and a fresh perspective that we’ve been determined to hold onto for as long we can.

If there is any part of you considering booking a trip with Getaway House, all I have to say is this:

DO IT!

Whether you choose to travel solo, with your partner or the whole family, it will be well worth it to getaway from your daily routine AND you can take $25 off a booking with code ‘PATRICIA25’!!

Visit here to get started!

It’s only been a couple weeks but my husband and I are already itching to get back. Sometimes we all get into rhythms that need to be broken, and I’m incredibly thankful we had the opportunity to do just that. Don’t miss yours. 🙂
