Monday Motivation: It’s Not Over

Well here we are.  Wow.  In a matter of hours, 2012 will become a thing of the past, and we’ll be at the start of 2013.  It seems that every year flies by faster than the one before, and it can be mind-blowing to think of all that can take place in a span of 12 months.

On this New Year’s Eve, you may be contemplating the goals you set for yourself and the dreams you dared to dream.  Perhaps some of your aspirations were accomplished, while in other areas you fell short.  I know I haven’t accomplished all that I set out to do, and for a brief moment I almost felt discouraged about it.  But then I remembered that the end of the year does not signify the end of every opportunity!!  When the clock strikes at midnight tonight, it doesn’t mean that your chances have been wiped away.  This isn’t the story of Cinderella.  It’s our lives and we can take control of whatever it is we’ve set out to do!!  Whether carrying a goal over from last year, or making a host of new resolutions, think it, speak it, write it, share it, and see what happens in this coming year!

Proverbs 23:7a (AMP)

For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.

Habakkuk 2:2 (AMP)

And the Lord answered me and said, Write the vision and engrave it so plainly upon tablets that everyone who passes may [be able to] read [it easily and quickly] as he hastens by.

Philippians 1:6 (AMP)

And I am convinced and sure of this very thing, that He Who began a good work in you will continue until the day of Jesus Christ [right up to the time of His return], developing [that good work] and perfecting and bringing it to full completion in you.

Take the energy that would’ve otherwise been spent dwelling on what you didn’t do, and put it toward finishing what you’ve started.  Don’t quit, and I’m praying for a safe and happy new year for you all!!! 🙂

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will, When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high, And you want to smile, but you have to sigh, When care is pressing you down a bit, Rest, if you must, but don’t you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns, As every one of us sometimes learns, And many a failure turns about, When he might have won had he stuck it out; Don’t give up though the pace seems slow– You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than, It seems to a faint and faltering man, Often the struggler has given up, When he might have captured the victor’s cup, And he learned too late when the night slipped down, How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out– The silver tint of the clouds of doubt, And you never can tell how close you are, It may be near when it seems so far, So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit– It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit.

Monday Motivation: Don’t Quit

“It always seems impossible until it’s done.”Nelson Mandela

When my daughter turned 6 months old I decided it was time for me to make a greater commitment to exercising.  Between nursing, walking, and generally leading an active lifestyle I’ve lost quite a bit of pregnancy weight, but I have a very specific goal in mind that requires an extra push. I’ve been diligent in sticking to my new fitness regime, and my confidence grows with each passing day.  Encouragement and accountability goes a long way during this process, and I’m fortunate enough to have an incredibly supportive husband, and several friends who help me stay motivated.   However, Saturday was a day I felt alone on an island.

I was gearing up for my workout, but I was having the hardest time staying focused.   My hubby was supposed to be enjoying his alone time while my baby slept, but she had other ideas and the interruptions seemed endless.  I couldn’t concentrate and I felt mentally assaulted.  I’d done this particular routine before, but it took everything in me not to push the “stop” button and throw in the towel. I finished for the sake of saying I finished, but the sweat and shortness of breath didn’t make up for my lack of effort.  I felt defeated.  In an attempt to shake the negativity, I searched for pictures or quotes that would lift my spirits and keep me positive about the outcome of my next day of training (today).  This is what I found:

It’s so simple, but the Lord knew what I needed to hear in that very moment.  Here I was beating myself up for a sup par performance, but I was missing the point.  There are bound to be days like this when you’re making steps toward achieving any number of goals.  Days when you hit a wall and think you’re only option is to hold a pity-party fueled by self-loathing and doubt.  Days when you think quitting is better than failing.  Ahh it’d be so much easier to give up wouldn’t it?  But would you really be getting what you want?

Whether your objectives are related to health, finances, relationships, whatever, give yourself the opportunity to “try, try agin”!!

Philippians 4:13 (AMP)
I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency].

WHAT HAVE YOU GAINED THROUGH PERSEVERANCE?
