Entering into 2020 means our news feeds and social media platforms are inevitably flooded with goals, resolutions and all the ways to make this new year the best one yet. There’s nothing wrong with that, but I know that for myself it can sometimes lead to feeling an enormous amount of pressure. I have goals too, one of them being to feel better in my own skin, and with the help of a few simple breakfast tips I’m going to take strides in getting there in a stress-free way!
Life is busy and honestly, I’ve been exhausted lately. Always having to be “on”, feeling overwhelmed trying to juggle family and work life, and constantly wondering why there never seems to be enough hours in the day.
Rather than continue in this draining cycle, my husband and I decided to escape the noise and take a break from our hectic schedules.
I had the incredible opportunity to work with Getaway House for a hosted stay, and the two of us recently left the busyness (and our kiddos) behind for a refreshing weekend in the great outdoors of North Georgia!

As the summer winds down I like looking back at some of our more memorable moments. It wasn’t all fun and games, and in fact, I struggled quite a bit with my own patience and the constant bickering between my girls. However, the sweetest things happened when we were all together and I am going to miss having them home. At least some days. 😉
I have one child who is very nervous to start school for the first time, so I’ve been trying to think of ways to make the transition as smooth as possible.
One of our favorite traditions was having a movie night so I’ve promised to continue that throughout the school year as well. They love movies like their mama, and it gives them something to look forward to. We can cuddle up on the couch together, or, thanks to 3M we can treat ourselves to a movie in the theater!

My goals for the summer were simple. I wanted my girls to have a lot of fun and I didn’t want to lose my mind in the process. Lol. This meant keeping them very busy (too busy for the constant bickering), and being flexible in ways I’m typically more strict about during the school year. One example was my decision to loosen the reigns a bit when it came to screen time.
We’ve always allowed time for television or tablets, but things were far less regimented over the last few months. As the school year begun I knew I needed to make some adjustments, and limiting their viewing during the week was initially a struggle.
They asked about their devices constantly and I was tempted to give in (again, to avoid that whole losing my mind thing), until they each received gifts from Wicked Uncle!
