A New York State of Mind: Part 1

I can’t believe that this time last week I was in New York City with my husband! We were there to celebrate my birthday which was on the 14th, but the joke was on him. I decided to do a reverse surprise and I planned this weekend getaway without him having a clue!!!

I’d been to New York prior to this trip, but my last visit was about 10 years ago. This was my hubby’s first time!!!

Our trip was wonderful in so many ways. Not only do I want to share some photos from our first day there, I also want to link up with Aleigh Moore’sA Thankful Heart’ series because I’m truly grateful for the time we had. I missed last week’s linkup because of the trip, but you can see my first entry here. Visit Aleigh’s blog if you want to join the fun, and I hope you enjoy part 1 of our experience!

Pausing to reflect on the good that surrounds us, no matter how big or small, does something wonderful for your spirit.

Does she have everything she needs?

6 hours is a long time. Is she going to be ok?

Will she nap?

Will she eat all her lunch?

Will she cry?

Will she miss me?

These are a few of the thoughts that ran through my head as my daughter entered Pre-K this year.

As she furthers her education my husband and I will be faced with even more questions regarding the path we believe is best for her. We will weigh our options between a public and private education, zoning and districts, teachers and testing, and so much more.

We know that our educational system is far from perfect, but one thing I’ve never had to wrestle with is wondering IF she will have the opportunity to learn. Sadly, this is not the case for everyone, and this is where CARE comes in.
