It’s been three weeks. Three weeks since my darling Lily turned 2!
I originally planned to throw her a cute, cartoon themed party. I wanted to show lots of love to some small shops and feature some homemade touches too, but time and circumstances didn’t allow for it to come together the way I envisioned. I had a minor spell of mom guilt about it. Not because I thought she’d hold it against me, lol, but I really had no clue what to do!
Either way it went, I knew my little sweetie would be celebrated.
Thanks to a great suggestion by my hubby and some Dollar Tree and Sam’s Club magic, the day was even more special than I could have imagined!
My husband had done some research and told me about this place called Butts Mill Farm. A few of their main attractions were temporarily closed, but there was no shortage of fun things to do. We went on a tractor ride, played on several playgrounds, fed goats, found Noah’s Ark, and so much more!!!
It’s a fantastic place for families and we enjoyed that time with my parents and sister too.
We made plans to invite some friends and family over for dessert that afternoon, otherwise we would’ve stayed there all day. I know we will be back, and the birthday girl loved it!
Once we returned to our apartment it was time to lay out the sweets. Like I said, we kept it simple but boy was it good!
There were lots of chocolate options because I know I’m in the minority with my aversion to it, but I was told it was all delicious. Especially the cookie cake! It wasn’t just a flat decorated cookie, but an actual double layered cookie cake with frosting in the middle. It got rave reviews!
All the kids were sugared up and the adults were crammed into our little space like sardines.
It was great!
My mom’s Starburst Punch was another big hit (perhaps I’ll share that recipe one day), and it warmed my heart to see all the joy and laughter from people who care so much about us.
In the midst of all the mingling I kept looking at my baby, trying to wrap my mind around the fact that she was a full-fledged toddler. A terrific two. And it’s like she woke up knowing (and acting like) there was a change.
Lily is such a gift to our family. My sweet 9/11 blessing has changed our world for the better and I can’t even imagine what life was like without her.
Now I’m living life with a four-year-old and a two-year-old. Feel free to pray for me as you’re led. Ha!
Anyone celebrating a birthday soon? What are your plans?
Aw it looks like you all had a blast! Sometimes the simple birthdays turn out to be the best most memorable ones.
