It’s taken me some time, but I think I’ve finally come to grips with the fact that I have a 4 year old. I think. 😉 We had a fantastic time celebrating her birthday a few weeks ago, and here are the photos to prove it!
We started the day at Chill Yogurt and Pizzeria. A group of Alex’s friends met us there and it was such a fun time! All the kids got to build their own pizzas, and they were given chef hats to decorate while they waited for the pizzas to bake.
After the pizzas were devoured, there was room, of course, for yogurt. Everyone received a serving, and because that wasn’t enough sugar (HA!), each child went home with candy, noisemakers and a cupcake.
Cupcakes and balloons were the birthday girls only requests, so we did our best to deliver. At first I was going to have a great baking session with my very talented friend who was going to help me make some homemade buttercream frosting, but then I went to Sam’s Club and found these gems and figured I’d save myself some time and stress.
That’s probably not Pinterest approved, but that my friends is what I call wisdom. 😂 They did the trick wonderfully and for a great price!
As far as the balloons, they’re not pictured but she received several as gifts. In fact, every. single. one of them is still attached to her bed in her room, along with the two that have survived from Valentine’s Day! But the piece de resistance was her birthday dress. The super sweet and talented Natalie, owner of Rylee Dee’s Boutique, made this custom balloon dress and bow just for her! Isn’t it darling?!
Maybe it was just my slightly aching mama heart, but she instantly looked a little bit older and more mature to me that day.
Onice the party was over, the four of us headed to the Wild Animal Safari. It’s a bit of a bummer to have the nearest zoo an hour and a half away, but this place is fantastic and just about 30 minutes from us. We’ve only been a couple times but we haven’t been disappointed.
Alex was a little hesitant to feed the giraffe so I stepped in to ensure our friend was happy and fed, ano Lily was watching everything in awe. They both had a great time and it was a wonderful way to cap off the day.
As bittersweet as it is to reach these new milestones each year, we love celebrating birthdays and have tried to do something a little different each time.
What about you? What are your birthday traditions? I’d love to hear from you, and I hope that you’ve enjoyed a glimpse of the celebration for our sweet and sassy girl!
EMBRACE HIS GRACE!
