Small Shop Spotlight: Trendy Cactus

image

For this week’s Small Shop Spotlight I’ve teamed up with one of my favorite shops, Trendy Cactus!! Elizabeth is the owner, and she creates adorable and unique shirts and onesies for boys and girls. I had the opportunity to ask her some questions, and I’m sure you’ll love getting to know her as much as you’ll love her fantastic apparel! 😄

1. Tell me a little bit about yourself (family, interests, hobbies, etc).

I’m originally from Texas, but moved to Phoenix in January for my husband’s job. My husband’s name is Luke, and without his help Trendy Cactus wouldn’t be possible. We don’t have little ones of our own yet, but it’s definitely part of our future plan. I’m a dog mom to a Frenchie Pug named Fitzgerald, and a Boxer mix named Libby. In April, I was excited to become an aunt to twin boys named Nathaniel and Oliver. Our family enjoys trips to the dog park, camping and relaxing at home. I also love listening to a good book on tape while working on orders.

2. When did you open your shop and why?

I was very excited to open up the Etsy shop in May 2015. In April, I was working at a public relations agency and started to feel that it wasn’t my calling. Around the same time, I became an aunt to adorable twin boys. With my husband’s background in screen printing, we designed a few onesies for my nephews. I loved how they turned out and many of my friends and family asked if they could purchase more designs. It sparked an idea to open up an online shop and continue to create/sell designs. I never would have imagined myself running a shop like this, but I’m so glad that I ended up where I’m supposed to be.

3. What inspires you as you create new designs?

I’m inspired by a lot of things, but most of my inspiration comes from friends and family. I also get great ideas from customers.

4. Do you have a favorite design? If so, what makes it so special to you?

All of our personalized designs are my favorite. I think it’s so fun to offer designs that allow people to get something custom for their little ones or take a unique gift to a baby shower.

5. What’s your favorite part about being a small shop owner?

Being a small shop owner gives me the availability to be more personal in every aspect of my business. I absolutely love being able to connect with our customers and enjoy the relationships built with people through the shop, social media and the Phoenix community.

Are you ready to go shopping yet?! 😉
