Monday Motivation: Jesus Gives True Rest

place

My family and I had a phenomenal, but exhausting weekend.  In less than 72 hours we traveled to and from Virginia for my brother-in-law’s wedding.  We made it back to California yesterday, and by the time we fell into our beds last night we weren’t sure if any amount of rest would be enough to help us recuperate.

At about 7:15 this morning I awoke to the sounds of my daughter’s babbling and baby talk.  I felt rejuvenated and thanked the Lord for a night of peaceful sleep.  As we began our morning routine, the following verses came to mind:

Matthew 11:28-30 (AMP)

28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. [I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.]29 Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me, for I am gentle (meek) and humble (lowly) in heart, and you will find rest (relief and ease and refreshment and recreation and blessed quiet) for your souls.30 For My yoke is wholesome (useful, good—not harsh, hard, sharp, or pressing, but comfortable, gracious, and pleasant), and My burden is light and easy to be borne.

Wow.  How blessed are we to know that through our Lord and Savior we will find rest for our souls?!!  It’s so much deeper than getting our 8 hours of shut-eye a night.  It’s knowing that Jesus calls for a loving, free, and open relationship with Him, that reminds us that God is always enough for us!!

Are you tired?  Worn out?  Burned out? Weary?  Then turn to Christ and allow Him to refresh and and revive your spirit!!

Blessings to you all!!

  2. Thanks for reminding me! I really need this seeing how I rarely get 8 hours, or 6 for that matter. I’ve awoken early (1 a.m yesterday and 3 a.m. today) for the past several days. My body says I’m tired, but my mind wont cooperate! :-P

  4. God’s words brings comfort when we are tired and exhausted. In moments of trials, his words gives us strength to go on. “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest.” Thanks for today’s inspiration.

    • His words certainly do, and in the hustle and bustle of every day life, we need to be reminded that He is the answer to our every need, and that the strength we need to face various situations comes from Him as well!!

      Blessings to you my friend!!
