Connecting. Sharing. Growing. Embracing the Woman Within!

I always enjoy participating in the creative and heartfelt photo challenges presented by my dear blogging friend, Island Traveler, and this time is no exception.  There was a lot to celebrate over the last 2 days, and whether you all do or don’t get to enjoy the MLK Holiday as a day off work, I hope you’ve made the most of your time this weekend!!

I woke up in an exceptionally good mood on Saturday morning.  We had a fun day planned, and even though there wasn’t a lot of time for morning hugs and cuddles, we were all eager to get moving.  I was proud of how quickly I did my make-up and got dressed, and as I was walking past the mirror toward our front door, I had a thought that made me smile from ear to ear.  I realized that for the first time in a long while I recognized the body I was in.  I know this may seem silly to some of you, but even with my work-out and post-baby weight loss (65lbs!) I don’t think I’d fully registered the changes in my mind.  I saw shades of my former self, and felt extremely comfortable in my own skin.  Knowing how important this step was to me, my husband patiently waited as I entertained myself with my camera phone. :)

I had my fun, then we headed out.  We were going to meet up with my husband’s family to celebrate his grandmother’s 92nd birthday!!  Talk about blessed!  She leads such an active life filled with so much love, and I feel so special to be just a small part of her rich biography.

I had to have my picture taken with the woman of the hour! ;)

Between the food, white-elephant gift exhange, children playing, and laughter shared, so many wonderful memories were created!  On our way home, Kevin and I thanked God for his goodness, and talked about the legacy we’d like to leave for our child (and future children).  The rest of the evening was calm, and I enjoyed some me-time before heading to bed.

Sunday morning arrived, and church was calling!  The service was wonderful, and while there’s always mingling afterwards, today’s fellowship was cut a bit short.  We had a few quick stops to make before getting to the house in time to watch the NFC Championship Game!  Go Niners!!!  As if we hadn’t had enough reason to celebrate, our team was going to the Super Bowl!!!

Ahhhh.  Sweet victory.   And yes, my cheering had everything to do with the win. Lol!  After the game we called Grandma (her actual birthday is today), and had some fun watching Alexandra experiment with spinach before heading to bed.

I like to eat it sometimes, but tonight it’s better as finger paint!

All in all it was a wonderful weekend, and we might even have a movie date tomorrow to top it off!  So thankful, and I pray you all have your share of wonderful stories to tell!

The Weekly Image Of Life challenge is issued every Wednesday by The Island Traveler at This Man’s Journey. If you would like to participate and see other entries please visit here!
