Monday Motivation: It’s Not Over

Homepage_graphic_2

Well here we are.  Wow.  In a matter of hours, 2012 will become a thing of the past, and we’ll be at the start of 2013.  It seems that every year flies by faster than the one before, and it can be mind-blowing to think of all that can take place in a span of 12 months.

On this New Year’s Eve, you may be contemplating the goals you set for yourself and the dreams you dared to dream.  Perhaps some of your aspirations were accomplished, while in other areas you fell short.  I know I haven’t accomplished all that I set out to do, and for a brief moment I almost felt discouraged about it.  But then I remembered that the end of the year does not signify the end of every opportunity!!  When the clock strikes at midnight tonight, it doesn’t mean that your chances have been wiped away.  This isn’t the story of Cinderella.  It’s our lives and we can take control of whatever it is we’ve set out to do!!  Whether carrying a goal over from last year, or making a host of new resolutions, think it, speak it, write it, share it, and see what happens in this coming year!

Proverbs 23:7a (AMP)

For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.

Habakkuk 2:2 (AMP)

And the Lord answered me and said, Write the vision and engrave it so plainly upon tablets that everyone who passes may [be able to] read [it easily and quickly] as he hastens by.

Philippians 1:6 (AMP)

And I am convinced and sure of this very thing, that He Who began a good work in you will continue until the day of Jesus Christ [right up to the time of His return], developing [that good work] and perfecting and bringing it to full completion in you.

Take the energy that would’ve otherwise been spent dwelling on what you didn’t do, and put it toward finishing what you’ve started.  Don’t quit, and I’m praying for a safe and happy new year for you all!!! 🙂

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will, When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high, And you want to smile, but you have to sigh, When care is pressing you down a bit, Rest, if you must, but don’t you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns, As every one of us sometimes learns, And many a failure turns about, When he might have won had he stuck it out; Don’t give up though the pace seems slow– You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than, It seems to a faint and faltering man, Often the struggler has given up, When he might have captured the victor’s cup, And he learned too late when the night slipped down, How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out– The silver tint of the clouds of doubt, And you never can tell how close you are, It may be near when it seems so far, So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit– It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit.

Weekly Image of Life: Children and Their Gifts

Psalm 127:3 (NLT) Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him.

A little over 9 months ago, my husband and I were blessed with the greatest gift.  A sweet baby girl who makes us wonder how we ever lived life without her.  She is my personal sunshine and every day she lights up my life.  I want to remember every milestone and capture every moment, while sharing the happiness she brings me with the people I love the most.

This year, the majority of the gifts we gave for Christmas were pictures of our little family, with my darling daughter at the center of it all.  Our hope was that her sparkling eyes and infectious smile would bring warmth into the hearts of all who received one, and as I share these pictures I hope they do the same for all of you!

Monday Motivation: Music for this Christmas Eve!

Yesterday our praise team sang “Oh Come All Ye Faithful”.  When we got to the final verse I had a beautiful visual of the wondrous day Our Lord and Savior was born.

Yea Lord we greet thee, born this happy morning

Jesus, to thee be all glory given

Word of the Father, Now in flesh appearing

Oh come let us adore him

Oh come let us adore him

Oh come let us adore him

Christ the Lord

I’ve been listening to Christmas music all month long, and as much as I love the variety of jolly and melodic tunes, nothing compares to those that remind us that without Christ there’d be no Christmas!  So today I’ve decided to share a few of my favorites, and as you listen I hope that you too will enjoy every moment of praise to our Abba Father!!

HAVE A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!!

A Very Happy Day!

Today was a great day in Mommy Land.  As I went about my daily routine, I had an extra pep in my step to match the HUGE smile that was on my face.

Why the extra cheesy grin?  What caused this joyous mood?  Oh, I’m so glad you asked!  The reason for my elation is simple.  I got on my scale this morning and to my surprise (drum roll please…;)), I have reached my pre-pregnancy weight!!  Hooray, hooray, and the crowds go wild!!!  HAHAHA.  Ok, so there were no crowds, lol, but that didn’t stop me from scooping up my baby girl and dancing around the room.  After all, there should be a celebration when you see your hard work pay off!

In actuality, numbers were never the main focus of my weight-loss goals.  I know that 3 digits don’t define who I am, but I wanted to be in a place where I was truly comfortable in my own skin once again.  I wanted my confidence back, so a few months ago I decided that it was time for me to make some adjustments if I wanted to see the change I desired.  I started a new exercise regime, and although I’ve yet to complete it, I am at the finish line.  With 8 more workouts and 1 fit-test to go, I think it’s ok to slow down, take a deep breath, and give myself a small pat on the back.  I’ve earned it!

This is by no means the end of my fitness journey, but what I’ve learned so far is much more valuable than what any outward appearance can teach me.  I’ve learned that, YES, these things may take time and there’s nothing wrong with that.  I’ve learned that, YES I can find a healthy balance between what my daughter wants and what my body needs.  I’ve learned that, YES I can be committed to a goal and accomplish what I’ve set out to do!  This is an important one to remember, because, Lord-willing, we will expand our family one day and it will be a blessing to know that I’ve done it once before, and if I choose to, I CAN do it again!

I’ve also learned that I have the most incredible support system, and I thank YOU ALL!!!  The encouraging words, tough love, and accountability all contributed to my success, and although I know this feat is a minor one in light of so many other things, it means the world to me!!

I will continue to keep you posted, and I hope you will also share your goals with me!  Let’s continue to motivate each another, and I’m sincerely here if you need me!!

Love to you all…and YOU CAN DO IT!!!! 🙂

Weekly Image of Life: A Christmas Surprise

I LOVE surprises.  I pretend like I really want to know whatever it is that’s being hidden from me, but the truth is, I’m completely tickled pink by the suspense!  I had no idea what my wedding ring would look like because my hubby did the shopping for that on his own, and (with some convincing on my end) we decided not to find out the gender of our baby before she was born!  I give little to no hints about what I want for my birthday or Christmas, and I’m delighted to unveil the mystery at the appointed time. 😉

Today I was met by a knock on the front door, and the mailman had a special delivery for me.  I had no idea what it was and I couldn’t wait to tear the package open.  It turned out to be Alexandra’s first Christmas gift!  It was a beautiful personalized book that told the story of how she became the beloved fairy princess.

It was from some good friends of the family, and was completely unexpected. Receiving such a sweet and thoughtful present made me think of the excitement I have when I’m able to give a heartfelt gift.

It’s a blessing to be able to give, and share a token of affection with the people you love.  I give to show my appreciation, and I can’t help but to become giddy as I wrap gifts and imagine the  big, broad smiles that I hope to see once they’re opened.

I wish I could buy and share a Christmas surprise with everyone in my life, but as beautifully stated in this poem, the best gifts tend to be those that are intangible.

If I could wrap up gifts for you and put them under your tree, I would choose a lot of lovely things you couldn’t even see.

I’d wrap up fun and friendship true, and happiness galore, and more joy in living than you’ve ever known before.

And in a lovely package, star-trimmed with purest gold, the message of God’s love, the sweetest ever told!                                                                                                                                                                               ~Mary Kay Ash

Rejoice in giving this year, because I’m sure that to someone in your life YOU are the best Christmas surprise there is!!

Acts 20:35 (AMP)

35 In everything I have pointed out to you [by example] that, by working diligently in this manner, we ought to assist the weak, being mindful of the words of the Lord Jesus, how He Himself said, It is more blessed (makes one happier and more to be envied) to give than to receive.

Have you finished your Christmas shopping?  What’s the best gift you’ve ever given?
